Tucked right next to Spitalfields market in London, this branch of Rudy’s was a welcome respite after the hustle and bustle of the market itself. Having the opportunity to sit in the calming, modern restaurant to escape the heat of the latest British summer heatwave was very much needed!
I have to say, when we are out, hungry and come across a pizza place, pretty much the only criteria is that they do a marinara.. Everything else is often forgivable to be honest. Rudy’s however was a nice surprise as they not only did a cracking marinara but they also had options to switch the dairy cheese to a vegan alternative on most of the menu.
Ruby opted for the marinara (standard menu choice – she added some extra roasted red peppers and sundried tomatoes too) I had the vegan version of the ‘Nduja Ortolana (but I switched the olives for house recipe caramelised red onion.)

Neopolitan pizza is our ‘go to’ anyway to be honest (we are a bit spoiled in Lincoln as we have 2 AMAZING vegan friendly pizza places) – Rudy’s didn’t disapoint in this area either. The ‘Nduja pizza photo doesn’t do the pizza justice aat all – The vegan cheeze had almost melted into the sauce so whilst the flavour was absolutely there, it wasn’t quite as photogenic as the dairy version.
Marinara was an absolute classic and was totally elevated by the added extras.
Overall, a lovely atmosphere, staff were well clued up on alternatives available, good combinations to suit a plant based diet. and we even got a vegan strawberry ice cream on the house because we happened to mention that we were in London as Ruby’s ‘end of the college year celebration’ – a nice touch (and the ice cream was fab too!)
